We have chickens, and came to the same conclusion re organic. We use a deodorant spray to prevent our home, which is not in the boondocks, from smelling like chickens

It's so good for kids to have chickens around!
100%, our toddler loves them. The rooster has crowed in response to the baby crying, which is kind of hilarious.
